Background to China’s Lei Feng Day celebrated on 5^th March 2012

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of National Hero Lei feng 雷锋, the Chinese Education News Network started a series of activities to remind Chinese of the "Spirit of Lei feng" so that generation after generation in China can learn to give selfless service to the people of China 

[雷锋(1940--1962)是中国家喻户晓的全心全意为人民服务的楷模，“雷锋精神”也激励着一代又一代人学习.]

The Committee responsible for promoting the Spirit of Lei Feng is headed by Li Chang Chun 李长春, a member of the powerful Central Politburo.
 

BD was featured above.  His story appeared in major newspapers in China.  He is honoured with the title of Yang Lei Feng. 洋雷锋 [The Lei Feng from Overseas]
